This book acts as a time capsule representing the over packaging, excessive presence of single-use plastics, bad treatment of animals in captivity, and the overfishing in Japan as I saw it in spring 2019. I have sourced the materials in this book as sustainably as I could.

It’s not sustainable to create as much non-biodegradable waste as we do at the moment. Unnecessary plastic packaging is the biggest culprit. As designers, we have created most of the worlds packaging that is polluting our world, but we also have the power to change this.

Japan has the second highest total packaging waste per capita in the world, second only to the United States of America. But this doesn’t mean they’re the only ones to blame. We can only clean up and save our planet if every country works together.
